Title IX specifically prohibits discrimination against a student based on pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions  (34 C.F.R. § 106.40(b)(1).

This course covers the following training objectives:

  • Discuss pregnancy based discrimination.
  • Identify how faculty and staff support students with pregnancy-related excused absences and medical leave.
  • Identify additional resources for assisting students with pregnancy-related adjustments and discrimination investigations.

Affirmative Action is the policy and practice used to identify and eliminate potential barriers to employment. After completing the training you will be able to:

  • Recognize how Affirmative Action applies to your role as a manager/supervisor.
  • Describe what placement goals are and how they communicated to a manager/supervisor.
  • Identify when it is appropriate to use Affirmative Action in the selection process.

This is an online course designed for supervisors of both faculty and staff. HOP 1.33 - Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, and Outside Activities requires that all UTSA employees submit timely disclosure statements of outside activities that could be potential conflicts of interest or conflicts of commitment. These disclosures must be reviewed and approved by their supervisors. This course will give an overview of the UTSA policy and process with a focus on the responsibilities of supervisors. Additionally, the course will cover how to access and use the UTSA Conflict of Interest/ Commitment Portaland will provide examples of conflicts of interest, conflicts of commitment, and management plans.


Target Audience: This is an online course designed for supervisors of both faculty and staff.

The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including employment. Supervisors are trained regarding how to appropriately identify, analyze, and respond to accommodation issues in consultation with leave management.
